WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING TO YOU.

According to the Daily Mail, doctors were shocked when a woman who came into their office complaining of irritated eyes ended up having HUNDREDS of parasites living in her eyelashes.

The woman, known in the article only as Ms. Xu, said that she had been suffering from red, itchy eyes for two years. She had simply lived with the condition, treating it with over the counter drops. However, the condition had recently worsened, and she would wake up with her eyelids stuck together due to all the crusty deposits.

After an examination, she was diagnosed with Blepharitis, conjunctivitis and inflammation of the eye caused by the hundreds of Demodex eyelash mites!

DON’T SLEEP ON PROPER HYGIENE

Perhaps the most shocking revelation of all was when doctors asked Ms. Xu about her hygiene practices to discover how these demodex mites had come to be such a problem. Ms. Xu then admitted that she had not washed her pillowcase for 5 YEARS. This unwashed pillowcase had allowed the Demodex mites to build up to such an unusually high level and cause serious issues with her eyes.

Since seeing her doctors, Ms. Xu has received treatment and made a full recovery.

YOU MITE WANT TO KNOW…
WHAT PROBLEMS DEMODEX MITES CAUSE

While Ms. Xu was an extreme case of Demodex and most people practice proper hygiene habits and wash their pillows more than once every five years (we hope), Demodex is still a threat to your eyes. Studies suggest that almost every adult is infected with at least a few mites, and the risk of an infestation only increases as you age. These mites can be found on your eyelids, nose, cheeks, chin, and around the base of your ears. They not only cause Blepharitis or eyelid inflammation, like in the case of Ms. Xu, but can also cause skin diseases like acne and rosacea.

Luckily, there is a way to protect your eyes and skin from these pesky little mites. Blephadex eyelid wipes can be used once a day to provide soothing relief for your eyes. They contain tea tree oil as a key ingredient, which is one of the only natural treatments to kill Demodex mites. These wipes, which also contain coconut oil, provide a strong defense for your eyes while leaving them feel clean and refreshed.
